So Ends Chapter I

As I’ve done twice before, I’ve posted the title page for the next chapter. Yes, that means Chapter I ended with page 52, and Chapter II will begin next week. I know for many of you weekly readers this comes as a disappointment, but as I’ve written in the past, though I am publishing Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows as a web-comic, the book was written as a single, two part graphic novel. I want to create a sense of that, even in this weekly posting format, but there are other reasons for it as well. Read more… ›

Boston & Baltimore Comic Cons 2014 & a New Chadhiyana Edition

Chadhiyana 2nd edition coverThere’s a lot to announce this week concerning Chadhiyana, and even more to come in the coming months. Next month is the Baltimore Comic-Con (September 5-7, 2014), and amongst its many Artist Alley guests will be Chadhiyana creator, J. M. DeSantis. However, even before Baltimore is the Boston Comic Con this weekend (Friday through Sunday). Amongst the highlights of the convention are a panel on which J. M. DeSantis will be speaking (on Friday) and the release of a new edition of Chadhiyana.

This second edition of Chadhiyana (the first comic) features new cover art (by J. M. DeSantis), the new Chadhiyana logo (created by Corey Breen–which is now featured on the site, if you haven’t noticed), and the Prologue of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, as well as a new afterword by J. M. DeSantis. The reason for including the Prologue of the graphic novel was that the original book was too short (a mere 16 pages), however J. M. DeSantis did not want to include new content which would force previous buyers to re-purchase the same book just for new content. Plus, it would give new buyers an introduction to the graphic novel. What’s more, much of the original book was imperfect–especially the colours as they compared to the original art. Read more… ›

And So Our Lady Speaks

This week we at last hear (or read, rather) Chadhiyana’s first words in the graphic novel. Again, I know it’s a strange choice to not have the title character speak for the first forty one pages of the book (and even be unseen for a long while before that–if not, masked and disguised), but if you read my post from two weeks ago, you’ll see that I intended on creating a desire for Chadhiyana within the reader–with a certain amount of success, I might add. Chadhiyana Returns

After introducing a number of new characters (major and minor), Chadhiyana at last reappears in the book. Of course, if you haven’t figured it out yet, she was the female Tal-Ifatiir who fought and unmasked the witch (and herself) in the Prologue. Now she appears definitively in the book, and in just two weeks (following this present, short sequence) she’s finally going to speak! Read more… ›

Improvements to the Prologue

Some improvements have been made to the Prologue pages up to this point. The colour of the title page has been changed slightly to an arguably more attractive colour. Also, the texture on the vines which first appeared on page 6 was added to pages 1 through 5. Pages 6 and 7 saw some corrections made to the art, including darker blue shadows and a different orange-brown colour for the patterns on the snakes on page 7. Other minor improvements were made to pages 4 and 5 as well. If you are new to Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, these changes are of little concern.

Page 8 of the Prologue is now up, and not only is it the first page of the new posting schedule, but also the first full-page spread of the book. Don’t forget to check back every week for a new page, and visit jmdesantis.com every Wednesday for a new blog entry by, Chadhiyana creator, J. M. DeSantis (tomorrow’s will concern the aforementioned improvements). Enjoy!

Comic Pages & New York Comic Con 2013

After a few introduction pages last week and the Prologue’s title page, we at last begin the Prologue proper with some actual comic pages. (Finally!) Again, the Prologue’s story is told entirely without dialogue, so please don’t think it an error; J. M. DeSantis has a clear reason for his decision in this.

Also, if you’re attending the New York Comic Con this weekend, J. M. DeSantis will be at booth # 943 promoting Chadhiyana and other works. Be sure to stop by and pick up a signed copy of Chadhiyana (the original comic which began Chadhiyana’s story) or just say hello.

Keep checking back every day through the show. New pages will posting every weekday through October 15th. A new schedule, going forward, will be released soon. Enjoy!

And so it Begins…

Welcome to the official launch of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, the new graphic novel by, writer and artist, J. M. DeSantis. This book continues the story of Chadhiyana as it was begun a year ago in a comic which collected two stand-alone short stories featuring the title character (available for purchase on IndyPlanet.com). Chadhiyana.com was set up as a platform for J. M. DeSantis to regularly post pages from the book as he completes it, grows Chadhiyana’s readership and looks for a publisher for the graphic novel and other Chadhiyana stories. Read more… ›

Slight Change to the Official Launch Date

Not to worry folks; the change is a good one. Because one page at the beginning of the book had to be extended to two pages, the Chadhiyana graphic novel web-comic, Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, will begin posting on Tuesday, October 1st. That means an earlier release date and an extra page next week. Everything else will remain as it was outlined in yesterday’s post. So make sure you come back on Tuesday for the first posting (the cover of the book) and help celebrate the start of a new chapter in Chadhiyana’s story (both literally and figuratively).

Launch Date Announced

As it was announced on J. M. DeSantis’s blog today (jmdesantis.com), Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, the graphic novel web-comic which will further tell the story of Chadhiyana, will begin posting next week on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Mark your calendars and read ahead for the posting schedule so you know what to expect going forward. Read more… ›

The Countdown Begins

For some weeks now, J. M. DeSantis has been giving regular updates on his blog (on jmdesantis.com) as to the progress of the Chadhiyana graphic novel, Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows. As it has been previously announced there, the graphic novel will be published regularly as a web-comic as the creator works on the project, grows an audience for Chadhiyana and finds a publisher for this and future books. This website will be the home of that web-comic.

The exact date of the launch of the web-comic is yet to be determined; however, it has been J. M. DeSantis’s plan all along to have the web-comic ready for the 2013 New York Comic Con (as the first comic debuted at NYCC 2012). That said, keep checking jmdesantis.com for weekly updates as to the progress on the book and expect the first pages of the comic to be posted very soon.
