Thank You, Inbeon Con!

J. M. DeSantis Spiderman sketch coverIt’s been a summer of conventions (compared to what I’m used to): three in a row, in three different states. With Inbeon Con: Summer Edition this past weekend, my public appearances have ended until the New York Comic Con in October (though I am debating adding another show or two onto my schedule, before the end of the year). That said, Inbeon Con was a spectacular event, and I’m very glad my friend Eric Hutchison (owner of Inbeon Studios and host of the event) convinced me to do it.

Like a lot of shows I’ve been doing this year, Inbeon Con was much smaller than shows like New York Comic Con (well, really, what show isn’t smaller than NYCC?) or even Boston Comic Con. Though, I’m finding sometimes the smaller shows turn out to be a bigger success than the larger ones, especially one day shows as they tend to be the most intimate between the attendees and the exhibitors and there’s less competition at the show. Thank You, Boston!

J. M. DeSantis Boston Comic Con 2015 table

It’s Monday morning (Tuesday for you, reader), and I’m back in the studio again for a week before I’m off to yet another convention. This Saturday is the Inbeon Con: Summer Edition (inbeoncon.com), and it will be my last con until New York Comic Con in October. (Again, sorry folks, I won’t be able to make Baltimore Comic-Con because of a wedding I’m in that weekend.) But before all of that, I wanted to thank everyone who attended the Boston Comic Con and helped make this such a successful show! Read more… ›

One Down, Two to Go

Upcoming J. M. DeSantis Event

As a child growing up in New Jersey, the Mennen Arena was this vaguely referred to place where the WWE (then the WWF) would occasionally hold a house show. I never went there as a kid, but somehow I never forgot the name. So when the opportunity came up to attend an event there this past weekend, the little kid in me got just a little curious again. However, it wasn’t Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels headlining the event but rather names like Greg Hildebrant, Neal Adams, Mark McKenna and yours truly, J. M. DeSantis (well, maybe I’m not a headliner yet, but I’m hoping my time will come). Read more… ›

ComiXology, the comiXologist and Conventions

Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows News

Chadhiyana #1 was officially been out for a week (through Rosarium Publishing), but there’s still more to come. Late last week, the first issue of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows was added to comiXology.com and even earned a mention on the comiXologist post-San Diego Comic-Con podcast! More, this weekend begins a three-week-straight convention tour for Chadhiyana and myself. Read more… ›

Unfinished Pages, Some Corrections and NYCC

Chadhiyana watercolour sketches - Boston Comic Con 2014
My apologies for another unfinished page. Last week I had honestly been more exhausted from the Baltimore Comic-Con than I have been from any convention I’ve ever done. It was a great show, but it took all week to recuperate. As it was, I posted a black and white page, and this week I attempted to not only colour that page and complete this week’s page, but make some corrections to pages 55 through 57. It was a tall order (apparently). Read more… ›

Baltimore Comic-Con and a New Chadhiyana Item

Just a quick reminder that I will be exhibiting in Artist Alley at the Baltimore Comic-Con this weekend (table A109). The convention beings on Friday, September 5th and will run until Sunday, September 7th; however, I will only be attending the convention for two days: Saturday and Sunday. I will not be able to get down to Baltimore until late on September 5th, so I will not have my table set up that day (sorry to those folks who only have Friday tickets). Read more… ›

So Ends Chapter I

As I’ve done twice before, I’ve posted the title page for the next chapter. Yes, that means Chapter I ended with page 52, and Chapter II will begin next week. I know for many of you weekly readers this comes as a disappointment, but as I’ve written in the past, though I am publishing Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows as a web-comic, the book was written as a single, two part graphic novel. I want to create a sense of that, even in this weekly posting format, but there are other reasons for it as well. Read more… ›

Boston & Baltimore Comic Cons 2014 & a New Chadhiyana Edition

Chadhiyana 2nd edition coverThere’s a lot to announce this week concerning Chadhiyana, and even more to come in the coming months. Next month is the Baltimore Comic-Con (September 5-7, 2014), and amongst its many Artist Alley guests will be Chadhiyana creator, J. M. DeSantis. However, even before Baltimore is the Boston Comic Con this weekend (Friday through Sunday). Amongst the highlights of the convention are a panel on which J. M. DeSantis will be speaking (on Friday) and the release of a new edition of Chadhiyana.

This second edition of Chadhiyana (the first comic) features new cover art (by J. M. DeSantis), the new Chadhiyana logo (created by Corey Breen–which is now featured on the site, if you haven’t noticed), and the Prologue of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, as well as a new afterword by J. M. DeSantis. The reason for including the Prologue of the graphic novel was that the original book was too short (a mere 16 pages), however J. M. DeSantis did not want to include new content which would force previous buyers to re-purchase the same book just for new content. Plus, it would give new buyers an introduction to the graphic novel. What’s more, much of the original book was imperfect–especially the colours as they compared to the original art. Read more… ›

Boston Comic Con 2014 is One Month Away!

Boston Comic Con begins exactly one month from today, and amongst its many distinguished guests is, Chadhiyana creator, J. M. DeSantis. This is his first convention appearance since debuting Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows at the New York Comic Con (October 2013)! (For information on his short hiatus from public appearances, refer to his blog on jmdesantis.com, specifically these two entries: A Word About Conventions and Shows in 2014 & Upcoming Cons & a Happy 4th of July.) So mark your calendars for August 8-10, and don’t miss out on the other appearances he has scheduled for this year.  Read more… ›

And So Our Lady Speaks

This week we at last hear (or read, rather) Chadhiyana’s first words in the graphic novel. Again, I know it’s a strange choice to not have the title character speak for the first forty one pages of the book (and even be unseen for a long while before that–if not, masked and disguised), but if you read my post from two weeks ago, you’ll see that I intended on creating a desire for Chadhiyana within the reader–with a certain amount of success, I might add.
