Spend Cyber Monday with Chadhiyana Creator, J. M. DeSantis

It’s Cyber Monday! And with that, I, J. M. DeSantis, creator of both Chadhiyana and Gentleman Cthulhu, am highlighting my new storefront (jmdesantis.com/shop/), commission requests (open through 31 January 2018), and my Patreon page (to support this page and other work). And wouldn’t you know, there’s even original artwork for said creations on sale through the storefront.  Read more… ›

Chadhiyana Creator, J. M. DeSantis, on Patreon!

J. M. DeSantis on Patreonhttp://patreon.com/jmdesantis

Today is an exciting day for me, though (to be honest) it’s also a bit terrifying because today I’ve officially launched my new Patreon page!

For a long time now I’ve toyed with the idea of crowdfunding, drawn by its potential to help fund personal, independent projects. As it is, personal, independent projects have been a major part of my career as a writer and artist, yet I’ve never been certain if I could carry a campaign all on my own. But then, over a year ago, I became aware of Patreon. Read more… ›

Panel Podcasts from No Such Con

As promised, I’m sharing the podcasts of the artists and writers panels I was on during No Such Con this past weekend. I had a lot of fun at the show (which you can read about in Tuesday’s blog piece: jmdesantis.com/2017/02/no-such-con-2017-write-up/), and both panels were great to participate in. Thanks again to our moderator, author Thomm Quackenbush, for having me on them. Read more… ›

New Chadhiyana Artwork & an Upcoming Con

In support of the recent movements such as the Women’s March across the country (and the world) and the resistance of the Muslim and immigrant ban, as well as any movement going forward which seeks resist to exclusion or mistreatment based on race, sex, creed or culture, a new piece of Chadhiyana artwork has been created for personal and internet sharing. Chadhiyana: Resist (in two variations) can be downloaded below and used freely (please retain the copyright information). More, next month, I’ll be appearing at a convention (and speaking on a number of panels) in just a few short weeks. Read more… ›

Five Years Ago…

Goddess_Sand_banner

It was five years ago this month (July 2011) that I began preparing for my second New York Comic Con appearance. I had decided beforehand to dedicate the entire summer to getting new work ready. This included new prints, my first (and, to date, only) sketchbook (for sale, that is) and a collapsible banner to draw people to my table. Amongst the pieces I created that summer were an unused cover idea I had wanted to submit to Planet Lovecraft Magazine (before it closed its doors) of Cthulhu sitting in an armchair in Victorian attire, reading a copy of the magazine and an acrylic painting of a nameless Indian female warrior. Thank You For Your Support!

Chadhiyana_RosyDreams

We did it! Yesterday evening, Rosarium Publishing (the publisher for my comic, Chadhiyana) reached the goal for their IndieGoGo campaign, the funds of which are, in part, going toward print runs for a number of upcoming books, including the first Chadhiyana trade! Read more… ›

The Final Days of Chadhiyana and Rosarium

Chadhiyana Rosarium Publishing: The Next Level

The end of the Rosarium Publishing IndieGoGo campaign approaches (http://bit.ly/rosariumpub), and with it your chance to pre-order Chadhiyana volume 1 (issues 1 – 6) which comes with an exclusive mini-comic containing a new Chadhiyana story (see last week’s post for more information on that comic). Chadhiyana has consistently been one of the top-claimed perks since the beginning of the campaign. More, just hours after I had written this post yesterday, Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series, announced that he would match up to $10,000 in donations through the end of the campaign during the day on Wednesday, May 4th (rickriordan.blogspot.com/2016/05/support-great-publisher-who-values.html).

So, if you haven’t contributed yet, please do so soon. Simply click on the Chadhiyana perk, and it will bring you to a page to complete your pre-order. You’ll not only get the Chadhiyana trade and the comic, but you’ll be supporting diversity in publishing, which is the main mission of Rosarium, and help them reach the match-goal Mr. Riordan generously offered.

The Chadhiyana Rosarium Campaign Perk

Chadhiyana Rosarium Publishing: The Next Level

With just nine days remaining in the Rosarium Publishing IndieGoGo campaign (http://bit.ly/rosariumpub), I wanted to take the time today to write something about the Chadhiyana perk that’s being offered. As the campaign lists, with your $20 (Chadhiyana) contribution you will receive the first Chadhiyana collection (issues 1 – 6; already listed on Amazon for pre-order at $19.95: amazon.com/Chadhiyana-Company-Shadows-JM-DeSantis/dp/0996769269/) and a 4-page mini-comic. I’ve finally worked out the story for that mini-comic (which, essentially, you get for free with your pre-order), and convinced my publisher to give me more pages to tell it in. Read more… ›

Important Upcoming Dates

Just a friendly reminder of some important dates coming up in the next month. First, if you haven’t joined the mailing list yet, there’s still time to do so before the first newsletter goes out (either tomorrow or Thursday, the 30th or the 1st, respectively). It’s (I hope) going to be a great way to keep on top of not only Chadhiyana, but release dates, developments and other such things related to me and my work (there’s a form to join the mailing list at the bottom of this post).
