Chadhiyana Dreams

Changes Made

reposted today from jmdesantis.com

If you missed my post last Thursday on Facebook, Twitter and Google+, I mentioned that there was a certain document of interest which was placed in my e-mail last week. That particular document is the harbinger of the big news I’ve had coming for a long time. The end is nigh. And with that, some changes have been made in preparation for its coming. Read more… ›

It’s Almost Here…

reposted today from jmdesantis.com

The wait is almost over, folks. I’ve gotten word from the powers that be that I should be seeing something official from them within the week. That means the reveal of that BIG news is finally (almost) here. That said, everything is about a month behind where I was hoping it would be at this point, so rather than tease you more, I thought I’d reveal a little bit about what exactly has been going on in the past two months, behind the scenes. More Hints at the Coming Chadhiyana News

Things have been a tad delayed concerning the forthcoming big news. I had hoped something would have been made official already, but sometimes things can get pushed back a bit. That said, I didn’t want my Chadhiyana fans to be left wondering why no pages have been posted since late December and what with no further word about the future of Chadhiyana. After all, I’ve said this big news concerns her very much. So, with that in mind, I give you a preview and perhaps an even bigger hint at the nature of said news. Read more… ›

Announcement Coming Soon

Happy New Year!

As stated in the previous blog post, 2015 promises to be a big year for Chadhiyana and me (J. M. DeSantis–Chadhiyana’s creator). A big announcement is coming this month!

As such, I have decided to suspend posting pages until the announcement is made. Please enjoy the currently available 72 pages of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows for the time being, and keep checking back (or follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Google+). Great news is coming, so be patient just a little while longer. Stay tuned.

End Chapter II

With page 72 posted so ends Chapter II of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows. I know I’ve said it many times, over the past year, but this is only the beginning. There’s so much more to come in this graphic novel–as I’m sure you can see by the endings of the first two chapters. Plus there’s a lot more of Chadhiyana (the character) to come as she will increasingly take center stage in the story. That said, with Chapter II ended and the upcoming holidays, it seems a perfect time to take a little break from posting pages.  Read more… ›

On the Horizon

A Happy (belated) Thanksgiving (to all who celebrate it)! It’s been a while since I’ve posted a new blog post on chadhiyana.com (though I am still posting weekly blog posts on jmdesantis.com). First, my apologies for the recent black and white page. It’s been a while since I’ve been forced to post a half-finished page, but between the Thanksgiving holiday and feeling under the weather the past two days, this was the best I could muster. A coloured version will be up soon. Read more… ›

Boston & Baltimore Comic Cons 2014 & a New Chadhiyana Edition

Chadhiyana 2nd edition coverThere’s a lot to announce this week concerning Chadhiyana, and even more to come in the coming months. Next month is the Baltimore Comic-Con (September 5-7, 2014), and amongst its many Artist Alley guests will be Chadhiyana creator, J. M. DeSantis. However, even before Baltimore is the Boston Comic Con this weekend (Friday through Sunday). Amongst the highlights of the convention are a panel on which J. M. DeSantis will be speaking (on Friday) and the release of a new edition of Chadhiyana.

This second edition of Chadhiyana (the first comic) features new cover art (by J. M. DeSantis), the new Chadhiyana logo (created by Corey Breen–which is now featured on the site, if you haven’t noticed), and the Prologue of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, as well as a new afterword by J. M. DeSantis. The reason for including the Prologue of the graphic novel was that the original book was too short (a mere 16 pages), however J. M. DeSantis did not want to include new content which would force previous buyers to re-purchase the same book just for new content. Plus, it would give new buyers an introduction to the graphic novel. What’s more, much of the original book was imperfect–especially the colours as they compared to the original art. Read more… ›

Sick of Colour

Pardon the sensationalist title (as it were). The reason there are no colours on page 43 today is because I am sick…though not of colour. On Tuesday last week (when page 42 posted) I had already begun to experience a bit of dizziness. This was followed by two days of weakness, achiness, stuffiness and a general inability to concentrate. Showing up to work was difficult enough, but drawing a straight line was nearly impossible. By Friday, I was feeling almost normal, and even though most of the page was still unpencilled, I was hopeful. That is until Saturday. Read more… ›

Even the Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men…

I’m not changing the art to black and white. I swear. While my aspirations for finishing last week’s falling-behind-page and completing this week’s page all in a week’s time were noble, it didn’t quite work out as I’d hoped. So, things fell behind again and thus two black and white pages in a row. I’ll finish them soon, to be sure, but I want to move on with coloured art, so I’ll do it as I can. Read more… ›

Sad News and a Look Behind the Scenes

I was already running severely behind this week when I received a call yesterday that, my friend and journalist, Bill Baker had passed away. It took a lot out of me, and I barely got even the pencils done for page 29 in time for today’s post. That said, it was always Bill’s advice that, no matter what, I post something even if I can’t finish a page for any reason (Bill was very influential in me bringing this graphic novel to the web). So, in honour of him, and at the suggestion of my wonderful girlfriend, I’m going to turn a negative into a positive and do something a little different this week. Read more… ›
